Is it my battery or my alternator?
Test it before you buy anything. A car that starts on a jump and dies again later often has a charging problem, not a bad battery. We test the battery, alternator and starter together, so you do not replace a good battery to fix a bad alternator.
How long does a car battery last in Florida?
Less than up north. Heat, not cold, is what wears a battery out, so three to four years is common here. If yours is past three years, have it tested before it leaves you in a parking lot.
What are the signs a battery is on its way out?
Slow cranking, lights that dim at idle, the battery light on the dash, white or green corrosion on the terminals, or a case that has swollen in the heat. Any one of those is worth a quick test.
