Questions people ask
Do I need new rotors every time I replace pads?
Not always. We measure the pads and rotors and show you the numbers before anything is ordered. A rotor that is still within spec and not scored can stay on. One that is too thin or damaged cannot, and we will show you why.
Why are my brakes squealing or grinding?
A squeal is often the wear tab on the pad telling you it is getting thin, which is what it is there for. Dust and glazed pads squeal too. Grinding is different: that is usually metal on metal, and every mile makes the job bigger. Bring it in as soon as you can.
Why does my steering wheel shake when I brake?
A shake that only shows up when you press the brake usually comes from the front rotors, which have worn unevenly. If it shakes at highway speed whether you brake or not, that is more often wheel balance, which is a different and smaller job.
Can you do my brakes when I get tires?
Yes, and most people do. The wheels are already off for the tires, so doing the brakes on the same visit saves pulling them twice.
